July in Seoul!

I have finally arrived in Seoul after years and months of planning and waiting! I instantly fell back in love with seoul even despite the on-going monsoon season grrr I have been here for almost three weeks and have yet to have time to breathe. Seoul is a non-stop city with everything open at all hours and you can always expect crowds of people at all times of the day. My first two weeks were spent exploring different areas of seoul and meeting many amazing foreigners and Koreans! Heres a look at my adventures so far!

My first apartment in Hwagok, Seoul, has treated me so well! I got very lucky with such a large apartment for korea hehe hopefully my new one has room for all my new clothes! eeeek

After having an interview with my new school i wondered around my new neighborhood and found a massive market that had absolutely everything you could want.

Kristin and i lucked out on our first official weekend in seoul! mudfest happened to fall on our first weekend, it couldnt have come at a better time. We took the train down to the ocean with a bunch of people for a weekend of ridiculous fun, who knew mud could be such a riot!

Last week we took advantage of the sunny weather and went biking along the Han river. It only costs 3,000 won to rent bikes for a hour. Along the path there a multiple parks and swimming pools as well as bars, of course! My new neighborhood has paths leading down the the Han river so I am purchasing a bike to take full advantage!

My third week in seoul was made extra special with a visit from my mama! its her 4th time in seoul and she cant get enough of it, like all of us! hehe my mum is truly amazing and so much fun, she even survived nights out until 6am, she is pretty much korean now!

                                                                    hello kitty cafe!

my mum treated us to salads, never thought i would miss veggies so much!

Hongdae is officially my favorite area in seoul. I have never seen such fashionable men and women in my life! there are millions of tiny shops which have officially made me broke but it was well worth it. Hongdae not only has the best shopping but also the most amazing lounges, bars and clubs. Each bar has left me in amazement. Its going to be a ridiculous year for sure!

My brother and i took my mum to her favourite tea shop in Insadong. The old tea shop is hidden away down one of the many winding streets of insandong. The tea shop is well known for its atmosphere which involves birds flying around, as well as them stealing your rice cake!

                                                                  cold pear tea!

there's nothing quite like going to the bathroom to find fish swimming around

After three years my friend lad and i have been reunited! it has been really nice having him around to explore seoul with and learn korean, although he has mostly taught me words that will get me in trouble!

Boguen is another friend of mine i met when i visited seoul three years ago, it feels so good to see him again!

We gave my mum a break from the madness of nights out in seoul and went biking on the Han river after the insane flooding. It was crazy to see buildings and trees under the water. We thought the flooding was over but its started raining again today, a raft is needed over an umbrella at this point!

Kristin and i met jin a few weeks ago at our favourite lounge bar, B1. Jin is super nice and has taught us a lot of about korean culture..and korean drinking (soju hehe ). When he asked what type of bar we like we mentioned something to do with hop-hop and rap, and thats exactly what we got! super good night out, thanks jin!
