Perfect day for a korean wedding!

This weekend was eventful as always in seoul! Friday was meant to be an early night consisting of meeting friends after a very long week of work for some causal drinks, but as always it turned into an accidental ridiculous night. My current korean beau was in for a treat when derek and i stumbled home to meet him for noodles hehe

Saturday derek and i woke up bright and early to get some dumpling soup before boarding a two hour bus ride out to the countryside for our co-teacher, emily's wedding. Emily had a traditional korean wedding ceremony full of beautiful colors, lots of delicious korean food, soju, beer and of course sweet deserts! Unlike back in the West where brides make sure their special day is all about them and their guests, korean weddings occur based on time slots. We arrived at the wedding location and while waiting for emily's 3 o'clock time we saw two weddings and were sitting amongst hundreds of guest all attending different weddings. The ceremony itself was beautiful and short. I really liked the atmosphere of traditional weddings, its short but romantic! I could'nt help but picture my dad wearing a traditional hanbok at my possible korean wedding in the future...im sure he's regretting encouraging me to move to asia hehe Emily and her groom looked amazing in their traditional hanbok's! Emily had great luck on her special day, while it was storming in Seoul, the countryside had perfect weather for a korean wedding!

take note of the blurred brown figure being thrown into the crowd..
During the ceremony Derek turned to me and asked if i had just seen something move under the alter, thinking dereks hangover was also effecting his vision i blew off his comment...if I had only paid more attention maybe i would not have been so shocked when the best men threw live chickens into the crowd instead of a bouquet! Derek and i were so in shock we were unable to participate in catching the chickens!
After the chicken catching the ceremony continued while the little boy and man sat petting their chickens. It was quite the experience!

We have been so lucky with the weather lately, fall is most definately in the air and making me fall even more in love with korea...and giving me more reason's to fill up some closet space hehe

Last week my kindergarten staff went out for a delicious shabu shabu dinner and then headed off to the norabong!
